Exploring common stories through Contemporary Music
©Dino Bossnini
I’m a Basque contemporary clarinetist and music mediator based in Vienna. I work as a freelance performer with different contemporary ensembles and solo projects, and I also create and direct my own interdisciplinary work with new concert formats.
I perform with ensembles such as Klangofum Wien, PHACE or ÖENM. As a soloist and artistic director, I am currently developing the third creation of my own solo interdisciplinary series, supported by BMKÖS and awarded first prize at the Sounding Visions Award 2025.
My artistic practice is driven by questions: Who am I as an artist, and why do I do what I do? Why do I go on stage with a clarinet? What does music nowadays need? How does this affect the environment around me? And how does the environment affect me? What can we create together within the specific time and space we share in a concert?

I realized that these questions do not necessarily require a single answer or lead to one clear conclusion. In fact, they open up new questions, and it is precisely this process that keeps everything alive.
This has also led me to understand that these questions are never purely individual or one-directional. They are shared stories that gain meaning when they are explored and reflected upon together.
I develop this from what I have learned thanks to my wide musical journey, which has taken me from classical clarinet Bachelor studies at Musikene (San Sebastián) and Master’s studies at Codarts (Rotterdam) to a Master’s in Contemporary Music with Klangforum Wien at KUG (Graz) and a Master’s in Music Mediation (CAP) at MDW (Vienna).
